Make sure that when you are comparing quotes from different companies you are comparing the same types of service. Companies differ a lot in what they include in their quotes, make sure that the quote you receive includes excavation (unless you wish to organise that yourself), retaining if it is necessary (sloped sites), base preparation, lifting the pool into place, geotechnical investigation/certification, plumbing, consent services, equipment, and labour in their pricing so that you are not surprised with extra bills once your project begins. Also be aware that landscaping around your pool is usually an additional cost on top of the pool installation.
Remember that often you will receive what you pay for and quality can be reflected in the price, a heavier pool shell with higher quality materials will be more expensive. A good pool company will work with you to achieve your best result within your budget.
Here is a step by step look at the process at Ultimate Pools:
- You contact us.
- Site visit – we discuss what you want and what is possible, then generate a fully inclusive quote which can be altered to your preferences.
- Once a quote is accepted we order your pool and equipment.
- Then our consent team begins the approval process, they will make sure that everything is ready to go before install.
- Once the consent is underway and we have a delivery date for the pool we can pick an install date.
- The install project manager will visit the site to finalise the practical details
- Installation takes approximately one week to complete from breaking ground depending on how complex your excavation is.
- Once your pool is running you will have free reign to landscape however you wish around the pool.
- The pool handover meeting will then take place with our aftercare team who will teach you how to look after your pool and answer any final questions.
- Aftercare will then look after your pool for a full year for free.
We work rain or shine, while a wet install can get a bit muddy, your pool will still be installed. We only pause work in the event of health and safety risks such as flooding.
There are quite a few factors that determine what type of pool is suitable for your site. The biggest consideration is whether or not your site is sloped. A pool is very heavy, and if it is sitting on a slope it needs to be able to support its own weight. To solve this problem so that more people can enjoy a pool regardless of their site, Compass has designed a “Maxi-Rib” system that makes the pool fully self-supporting. This means that you can have a pool fully out of the ground or partially in ground. These are particularly amazing when positioned so that one edge of the pool is fully out of the ground and so does not need to be fenced, creating a beautiful seamless edge pool.
This is an interesting question because the impact of a pool on property value is dependent on a few factors, such as the buyer and the quality of the pool. Some people love pools and it increases the value a lot, but others would rather fill them in because of the maintenance costs. This is where the self cleaning pools and pools with transferable lifetime warranties, such as Compass pools, are particularly good because they are attractive to a much wider market of buyers.
Yes, you will need a consent. The type of consent will depend on the size of your pool and how close it is to your property boundary. If your pool is under 35000L it will only need a pool fencing consent. If the pool is over 35000L it will require a full building consent. If your pool is within 1m of your property boundary you will need a resource consent. At Ultimate Pools we handle this for you as part of our installation service.
At Ultimate pools the time from ordering the pool (which is manufactured in Australia) to installation is usually between three and six months. Installation usually takes a week. Landscaping will take a bit more time after that so we recommend that if you want a pool before a certain time you allow for six to seven months or more depending on the scale of your project.
The closer to your pool you put the pumpshed the better for your equipment as it has less distance to pump the water. Pool filters are quite big and a self cleaning pool has a lot of plumbing and equipment. The minimum size we recommend is three square metres of floor and a minimum height of 1.4 metres. This can be tucked in under your house or deck if there is enough space. If you choose to heat your pool your heat pump will need a minimum of three metres of open air clearance in front of it so that it can heat efficiently.
Just give us a call and we will send a technician to help you, our pools have extensive warranties with options to extend them, so often any issues that arise will be resolved at no cost to you.
Compass pools are pink on the outer surface to honour Compass Pools’ association with the McGrath Foundation and their Breast Cancer research.
